Synopsis

On 26th January 1930 Gandhi at Dandi a village in Gujarat started the Dandi movement i.e.salt march and declared Indians struggle for independence. Consequently the people ofcostal Karnataka repeated the same action at Ankole on 13th April 1930. The socio politicalorganizations such as ‘Karnataka Satyagraha Madala’ and ‘Hindustani Seva Dala’ plannedthe complete movement. At different places like South Canara, North Canara, Sanekatta,Bangre, Poojigere and Honnavara the salt march was successfully arranged, which called theattention of whole nation towards Karnataka.The personality of the hero Dandi is basically shaped by this movement representing thestruggle of youths for freedom.Through this he wants to show his gratitude towards hismotherland.Simultaneously with the story of Dandi the novel explains the involvement of the wholecommunity of Ager, Moger, Halakki, Gowdasaraswat, Havyak, Deshavari Brahmin, Nadava,Karvi and Kunabi societies
