MAHAKAVI is a Historical Film based on Poets concepts of Pampa who express in his work. Pampa is the first epic poet of the Kannada Language. An important scripture regarding him has been discovered in Andhra Pradesh. He lived in the 10th century, when he composed two epic poems called Aadi Purana and Vikramaarjuna Vijaya. Of these Vikramaarjuna Vijaya has become popular as Pampas Bharata. In this epic he has told the story of Mahabharata in different. Aadi Purana encapsulates the famous history and legends of Jainism.

ಮಹಾಕವಿ ಒಂದು ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕನ್ನಡದ ಆದಿಕವಿ ಪಂಪ ಅವರ ಕಾವ್ಯ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿದೆ. ಪಂಪ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಮೊದಲ ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯ ಕವಿ. ಅವರ ಕುರಿತು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಒಂದು ಶಾಸನ ಆಂಧ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿದೆ. ಪಂಪರು ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ. 10ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದು, ಆದಿಪುರಾಣ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಕ್ರಮಾರ್ಜುನ ವಿಜಯ ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಕ್ರಮಾರ್ಜುನ ವಿಜಯ ಕೃತಿ ಪಂಪನ ಭಾರತವೆಂದು ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಮಹಾಭಾರತ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದಿಪುರಾಣ ಜೈನ ಧರ್ಮದ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಹಾಗೂ ಪೌರಾಣಿಕ ಕಥನಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.

Baragur Ramachandrappa (b. 1946) is a seminal figure in Kannada literature and parallel cinema. A former professor at Bangalore University and a leading voice of the Bandaya literary movement, he served as Chairman of the Kannada Development Authority. He made a powerful directorial debut with ONDU OORINA KATHE (1978). His films often tackle social inequality and class struggle. Acclaimed works include BENKI (1983), JANUMADA JODI (1996) as a writer, and the Guinness World Record-holding SHANTHI (2005) featuring a single artist. A recipient of the Pampa Award and the Puttanna Kanagal Award, he is celebrated for his unwavering ideological commitment to the downtrodden.
