Férid Boughedir, born in 1944 in Hammam-Lif, in what was then the French Protectorate of Tunisia, is a Tunisian filmmaker, critic, and scholar. He began his career as a journalist at Jeune Afrique magazine in 1971 and gained recognition as a leading film critic through his influential writings on the history of African and Arab cinema. Alongside his critical work, he has played a key role in shaping film culture in the region. Férid Boughedir currently serves as a professor of cinema at the University of Tunis.
