Synopsis
Suellen, a toll booth attendant, realizes she can use her job to help a gang of thieves steal prized accessories from the wealthy people driving between São Paulo and the coast, she convinces herself she’s doing it for a noble cause: to send her teenage son, Antonio to an expensive gay conversion workshop led by a renowned priest. But she unwittingly triggers a chain of events that will leave no one happy, except maybe the thieves.

Director's Biography
CAROLINA MARKOWICZ
Carolina Markowicz (Sao Paulo, Brazil, 1982) has written and directed six short films selected for festivals including Cannes, Locarno, Toronto, SXSW, and AFI. She made LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP (2017), THE ORPHAN (2018), which premiered at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes in Cannes, where it became the first Brazilian film to win the Queer Palm, and SPIT (2019). CHARCOAL(2022), her first feature film, was selected for Films in Progress 2022 (Toulouse) and participated that same year in Horizontes Latinos in San Sebastian after having its premiere at the Toronto Festival.
